2 injured in blast in Lahore

Two persons were injured when a low-intensity explosive device went off outside a factory owned by members of the minority Ahmedi sect, barely two weeks after terrorists stormed two mosques of the community in Lahore.
Special Superintendent of Police (Operations) Chaudhry Shafiq said the explosive device was planted along the boundary wall of Shezan Factory on Bund Road.
He said police were investigating whether today’s attack was aimed at targeting Ahmedis.
On May 28, heavily armed terrorists attacked two Ahmedi mosques in Lahore and killed 95 people.
At least two terrorists blew themselves up within one mosque while two more were captured. The arrested terrorists had links with the local Taliban.
In the past, religious extremists had urged people not to consume products of Shezan, saying it was a “sin” to as their money would go to the Ahmedis.
While Ahmedis consider themselves Muslim, they were declared non-Muslim in Pakistan in 1974, and in 1984 they were legally barred from proselytising or identifying themselves as Muslims.
